The Type-fight is an online platform where battles take place between two designers. Each designer creates one letter and then users vote on which letter they prefer. The site is very popular with designers across the globe and whilst anyone can enter, only a few make the cut to actually battle it out one-on-one against another hungry, passionate designer.
For this brief, the ‘The Type-fight’ is looking for submissions for a range of posters that they are releasing this summer – all will have a single, super fresh letter at their center. They want you to illustrate your favorite letter in any way you see it fits. It can be inspired by anything; check out the website here and the examples below to get thinking, and then begin sketching your own letters!
Remember, the site sees so many regular submissions of letter forms that your concept will need to really stand out from the crowd. Perhaps your letter could include an illustration of a place, scene or situation within it? Maybe you would like to create a crazy pattern that makes up the main letter forms? Come up with a few possible directions using quick thumbnail sketches, and then narrow down the best to get you off to a good start.
