The brief I received was for a wedding company based in the South West of England, who required a splash page for couples to use as an online invitation for their guests.
Initially I searched for photos to use as the background, but I had a specific type of image in mind; I didn't want the couple's faces to be clearly visible. The other image which was a strong contender in comparison to the one I've used was the lady being given a piggyback by her future husband, but you could only see the back of them with a slight profile. I felt this was too clich? though, and after researching other splash pages I preferred just the hands of the couple making a heart.
I wanted to keep the design simple and easy to amend the copy. The 'Save the date' text is hand-drawn, and the font used in the rest of the page is Morsal, as this has a similar feel to the hand-written font I created for 'Save the date'.
I added frames to the 'Our Story' and 'Contact' button. I did add frames to the date and location too, but removed them afterwards as these are not buttons, also it would make changing the information more difficult.
To finish this page I slightly desaturated the image, added an opaque black gradient at the bottom of the page to help the white text stand out, and then added an outer glow to all of the text at the bottom of the page.
